The founder of OsteoCHAMPS pays it forward by mentoring hundreds of students. She also worked hand in hand with the Osteopathic Foundation to establish the program.

Margaret I. Aguwa, DO, MPH, founded OsteoCHAMPS in 2000. Her passion for promoting medical OsteopathicPicturecareers to disadvantaged high school youth in Michigan has led to many advancements throughout the state. At Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM), Dr. Aguwa spearheaded a  community integrative medicine course, which trains first- and second-year med students in health screening and other basic procedures, then deploys them to health fairs in underserved locales in the state. If that wasn’t enough, she also obtained more than $2.5 million in funding for clinical research and other projects, including grants from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
It’s not hard to see the wonderful impact of Osteopathic Medicine professionals on our future. For her full story, click here.
